Mission statement

« TV has attacked us all our lives, now we fight back. Now we make our own TV » ° Nam June Paik.

Our main mission is to remind humans of what they have because they tend to forget it.

Or as captain Kirk might have put it: « We collect glimpses of every day life, « souvenirs from earth », to be used in a darker future by a couple of people that escaped our planet before it collapsed. » This hypothesis may allow us to get a better view on the very simple things of our life, generating a global awareness for the grace and fragility of our life on planet Earth.

Since our first program on-air on German cable TV 2006, we resembled a decent number of artists from everywhere, know of less known, to put their films in our programs to function as an audiovisual UFO coming from a parallel world where gravity is temporarily suspended.

Our programs include video art, film, visual art, music, installations, dance and performances.

We understand that artists are aliens that can see things from a big distance in time and space.
A perspective that might be the complimentary dose of oxygen you need.

Founder Marcus Kreiss, curator Alec Crichton and the new players of the 2024 « °Resurrection » of SFE, Laurent Cappoen and Stéphane Mortier, conceive this channel as a platform where artists of different sensibilities can find a high-end environment to experience new forms of distribution and presentation.

Marcus Kreiss, President

Born in Hamburg, Germany. Studied filmmaking at Cinecittà in Rome. Lives in Paris today. VJ. Artist and filmmaker, his works are part of the biggest European art collections. Makes big oil paintings, cities, pinups, post apocalyptic advertisement. Also makes art-cars, consumer goods, cowboy hats and public art. Founded SFE in 2001 and started the on-air program 2006 with 100 of his own films under 15 different names. (find out)

Laurent Cappoen, associate director

Born in Lille, France. Studied architecture and advertising in Paris where he lives. Visionary and creative entrepreneur of digital media and content. Publisher, producer, artistic director for medias. He has worked in France and abroad and has contributed to the implementation of some twenty media. Aka Paul-in-Rio, he has founded the ilove.rio digital radio/tv stations, dedicated to Brazilian culture and music.

Stéphane Mortier, associate director

“A complicity between artist and gallerist must exist, otherwise nothing is possible.” A gallerist in Paris for over 15 years and passionate about publishing. Stéphane Mortier takes art very seriously and defends his choices at all costs. He has collaborated with Jean Pierre Raynaud, Annette Messager, Jonathan Monk, Fred Forest... in various documentary series and artistic projects such as : 75gr la génése, Quotidien d'atelier la série, Hors les murs sur les murs, Posters and News papers with free publications.

Simona Amelotti, curatrice SFE

Simona Amelotti

Paris based art curator from Torino. Simona is in charge of an ambitious broadcast event on SFE between France the DRC of Congo. Ambiance Kinshasa. She manages African artists like Eddy Ekete Mombesa and since 2021, she has joined KinAct (Kinshasa) for the international development to enable artistic exchanges between Europe and Africa. Since 2021, she has collaborated with the Museo delle Periferie of Rome that also tool place on our channel. Simona teaches Contemporary Art and International Management, and Fashion as a Social Compass, at the Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3.

Sophie Bloquert

Amoureuse de l'art contemporain et du moyen orient. Elle y voyage depuis les années 90. Particulièrement proche du Liban, elle y a lié de grandes amitiés et a organisée plusieurs partenariats avec l'ALBA (Académie Libanaises des Beaux-Arts). Elle est la correspondante de SFE pour la Méditerranée orientale.

Alec Crichton, Curator

Alec Crichton lives and works in Cologne. Artist and filmmaker. Studied media-art at Kunsthochschule für medien in Cologne. Teaches at Kunsthochschule Düsseldorf. Main curator of the SFE programs.
