Space_Surrogate II, GSG 9 (2003) A five seconds long b/w film sequence from 1977 is transformed into an extremely slow moving still image of eight minutes. Nine men, members of the German anti terror squad GSG 9, cross the screen from left to right during this time. The rare original footage of the German Special Forces GSG 9 shown here without face coverage was filmed at an airport in Turkey in 1977 where the agents were awaiting new orders to free a hijacked airplane. The antiterrorist squad GSG9 always tried to stay invisible in any form but at the same time to be present in the sub consciousness of the public as the ultimate executive task force granting security to the state by threatening its evil challengers. Corporate_Space I, LA (2003) A slow car trip through the empty streets of the „corporate city“ of downtown Los Angeles on a foggy Sunday morning, from north to south and back again. With a permanently swaying „drunken“ camera, the trip starts from the opera, leading past the new philharmonic, the Disney Hall, into the skyscraper district of the banks and insurance companies, continuing into the commercial districts and finally into the industrial periphery. The trip returns on a parallel street along public squares, ending with the court building at the end of the street.
