Jean-Sébastien Monzani (1975) is a Swiss and French fulltime freelance professional photographer and graphic-designer, who is specialized in portrait photography. Elegance, simplicity, a strong sense of composition and emotions are key elements in his work. In 2009, he started to produce short-movies together with his regular photo-stories (narrative sequences of photos). Conveying an atmosphere is fundamental for him, that is why he mainly shoots on-location, almost exclusively in Lausanne (Switzerland) where he lives.
“Perfection in design is not achieved when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to remove.” -- Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
Entretemps (literally "between-time") explores the boundaries of the perception of time in a cold universe into which a woman seems to be trapped. Is there a way out when the seconds and minutes themselves become a substance and the rules of nature are violated? How does it feel to be trapped in a place where the continuity of time is broken? CAST Stéphanie Schneider
Seatopia (2009) gently approaches the fragile inner-world of a young lady who seems to be fascinated by boats and the sea. Can dreams still live in the hostile universe of the cold city? CAST Stéphanie Schneider
